Are you looking for a great digital camera to use on a trip or as a gift, but don’t want to get involved with DSLR prices? Then you need to start looking at the best point and shoot digital cameras that include quality sensors and sharing options at far more affordable prices. We’ve got a lot of digital cameras for you to take a look at, but here are a few of our favorite models.

Olympus Stylus Tough TG-4 – $330

Olympus Stylus Tough TG 4 560x372

When people choose a point-and-shooter these days, they are very interested in portability. They want a camera that will take far better photos than their smartphone, but that’s just as easy to lug around. This Olympus model gets one of our top spots for just this reason: With shockproof, freezeproof, waterproof (up to 50 feet), and crushproof (up to 220 pounds) features, You can take it essentially everywhere, making it the ideal way to document your nature travels. It’s particularly well-designed for taking underwater shots and video.

Specs include a 4x wide-angle optical zoom, 5fps continuous shooting, and a 16-megapixel sensor. The Wi-Fi and GPS with compass features make this a well-rounded, rugged camera made for adventurers.

Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS – $210

Canon 560x314

If you are less “adventure” and more “adverse to spending way too much on a digital camera,” then this PowerShot model may be exactly what you’re looking for. At around $200 it’s far more affordable than our other favorite top point and shoot camera options, but still doesn’t skimp on any features. That includes a 12x optical zoom, a 20.2-megapixl sensor, and the ability to take 1080pHD videos. There’s aren’t a lot of extra modes or protective features here, making this camera ideal for more casual circumstances – however, the automatic slideshow creation feature may come in handy, and there’s both Wi-Fi and NFC tech here for image sharing.

Nikon Coolpix L840 – $197

Nikon Coolpix L840 e1465789430690 560x398

This Coolpix is currently in very interesting circumstances: The MSRP makes it one of the priciest cameras on our list, but recent discounts have made it the cheapest – and you still get some of the best point-and-shoot specs out on the market. That includes a 38x optical zoom that includes vibration reduction for when you get really up close, plus a 76x dynamic fine zoom. The image sensor is a low-light qualified, 16-megapixel version, and there is both Wi-Fi and NFC tech for sharing. Video capture is rated at 1080p HD. Really, the only thing lacking here are ruggedized features, so you’ll have to be careful with this one – also, that large lens makes this camera more difficult to fit into the average pocket.
