Ten of the Bloodiest Video Game Moments
Now I don’t purposely go out looking for gory video games, but having the addition of blood in one form or another is certainly a nice touch. Remember back wen you played arcade games like SMASH TV or any number of first-person shooters that featured fountains of silly blood spurts reminiscent of Japanese horror flicks? Yeah, those were the days. Well now, arcades have faded in popularity due fully to home video game systems and it’s not those hallowed floors of the massive color-and-noise rooms that give us first glimpses into new, gory games, but rather the hand-helds and consoles themselves. Hell, who could forget the Gore Code for Sega’s Mortal Kombat? Well, it was A-B-A-C-A-B-B, just in case you weren’t properly initiated. So here are ten of the goriest video game moments over the course of many years… and actually a few different but similar games. You’ll see.
Evil Dead 4
Yeah, that’s right: that’s my chainsaw in your face!
The definition of overkill.
Rhino horn impalement. Easily on my Top 10 Ways I don’t Want to Die.
Scary and gory? This is better than most horror movies!
House of the Dead
Very nice Dawn of the Dead aspect here.
A Mess of Mortal Kombat Fatalities, Part 1
It’s not even just the geysering fountains of blood that makes these so much fun, but the victims cries of terror.
A Mess of Mortal Kombat Fatalities, Part 2
I don’t know why I find Sub Zero’s curb stomp so funny, but I laugh every time I see it.
Gears of War 2
I really doubt this is what war is like. Nor is war this much fun.
Soldier of Fortune 2
There’s a reason this is called ‘bloody mess’, and it’s not because of the office furniture.
Executions from Manhunt Parts 1 and 2
Brutal. Just so, so brutal.
